EXHAUSTED

Guest Author, Chelsea Stanley-Miller

15,000+ people stood in the heat and pouring rain to honor the lives lost and to fight to protect Black lives.  My mom, Dionne, and I biked 10 miles today, 6/6/2020, to join this revolution and fight for justice.  If you’re tired of seeing BLM on social media, we’re EXHAUSTED because after 400 years, we still have to live in a country built on racism and oppression.  Tired of being discriminated against, having to fight for a seat at the table, and worrying about being the next hashtag every time we go for a walk because of the cops hiding on our streets.

If you have a voice, use it.  If you have the means, donate.  If you truly care, sign petitions and vote racist political leaders out.  If you don’t know our country’s real history, read books, listen to podcasts and watch documentaries.  If you still can’t understand why we say Black Lives Matter instead of All Lives Matter, take a second to remember that you do not have to worry about being wrongfully murdered or denied opportunities based on the color of your skin.  If you read all of this, thank you and I hope you continue to learn how to be a better ally for your Black friends and family.
