Mindfulness

I am using mindfulness to modify some of my behavior during these corona times.

1.  All day tv watching
I was sitting in front of the tv almost all day long watching mindless tv shows.  Now, when I watch mindless tv, I do not sit. I must exercise, cook, clean... This is where mindfulness and mindlessness collide in a good way.  I also must read every day and with the tv off.

2. Forgetting to Shower
I am used to showering first thing in the morning.  Sometimes it's when I am getting ready for bed that I realize I haven't showered.  Now, I must shower by lunch time. No more pajamas all day long. No more funky behind.

3.  The Unmade Bed
My bed is usually made as soon as I am out of it in the morning.  These days, I may go back in the bedroom late afternoon/evening and am so shocked to see the bed unmade.  I am back to making my bed soon after I get up.

4.  Indoors all day
I had a forced 14 days of self quarantine and I self imposed additional days.  They say 14 days, but I knew I had the virus in me way beyond the 14 days.  I am still not comfortable being around people, so I go driving, enjoying the views and sounds on the parkways.  I have added the park as one of my safe places.

5.  No Exercise
It's not like I exercised before Corona.  But there is a difference being out and about and sitting around all day.  I was on the Corona diet for two weeks and lost 10 pounds.  I gained those back in the 3rd week.  I am now doing  Zoom classes, from Dance and Fitness to Yoga, Tai Chi, Balance and Walk.

Have you been mindful? Are you documenting? Writing is therapeutic. Take pictures.

After surviving COVID-19, I started to write, giving birth to The Corona Chronicles, my daily thoughts and musings.  I find writing therapeutic. It's my personal journey through COVID-19.  It will give insight into the suffering, but also the goodness of people.  Heather's Dawning is made up of my first (Heather) and pet (Dawn) names. It's my awakening.  Covid-19 may have knocked me down, but it also awakened my creativity.
